Other than the castle, the village itself has a very inviting feel about it. You enter the castle from the little square where there are a few shops and a monument in the middle. The square is very small! I don't know; I just found the place really calm and peaceful - most likely not this way during the tourist season but on a cold wet November late afternoon the atmosphere was at its best.

The village isn't very big, so worth a little wander around and perhaps a stop in a pub and some of the shops.

Such a beautiful village - it hasn't changed much since I used to visit it over 40 years ago. The Castle is always worth a visit - you get in free if you're a National Trust member, and the parking at the visitor centre at the entrance to the village is also free to members. Try getting there early-morning before the crowds. Interesting little shops and the National Trust Tea Rooms does the best cream tea ever - sit in their garden overlooking the Castle. There's also a model village. The steam train runs from the Park & Ride at Norden (just before Corfe Castle village), stops at the village before chugging through the Purbecks onto Swanage. A good day's fun!

A great place for hide and seek with the kids, this ruined castle is undergoing extensive refurbishment with a combination of National Trust and Government money, and when we were there last summer they wer just starting to take down the scaffolding. It was brilliant - lots of information about the restoration, lots of hidey holes and different levels to explore, ad just enough info about how life in the castle would have been. Also great views down over Corfe Castle, and a bird's eye view of the old steam railway that chuffs by every half hour or so. We got hit by a huge rainstorm, very sudden and hilarious to see everyone scuttlng like rats to get out of the wet. Fun!

A great castle. Lots of space to run around and clamber on things with a refreshing approach to health and safety that actually trusts you not to hurl yourself off a ledge and sue someone. Great for kids and anyone who's ever wanted to explore some amazing, labyrinthine ruins without being told to keep off all the time. For the full Enid Blyton experience, be sure to order a few ginger beers at the tea shop next door afterwards!

Corfe Castle is a lovely village and dominated by the castle ruins. The castle is owned by the National Trust so entry fees have to be paid to enter which can mount up for a family and it is quite a hike up to the top of the castle for little children. It is worth parking in the car park just before you reach the village if approaching from Warham to avoid the queues and congestion in the village, especially in the summer.

Corfe Castle - what can I say, it is like stepping back in time (shame about the traffic which has to travel through the village, it being the only main road into the Isle of Purbeck). The castle itself is one of those places that brings you out in goosebumps, the history just seeps from the whole place.

Over the last two years this has become a must visit for my family. We frequently travel down to this area for holidays, and have particularly enjoyed the Enid Blyton day in August-I was particularly proud when older son picked out the posh ginger beer as the best last year. It does attract a lot of visitors and deservedly so. My recommendation is to join the National Trust and use their car park-there is a museum in the car park-and walk up to the castle. This is a lovely place and not to be missed.

Corfe Castle is set amongst the beautiful purbeck hills in Dorset. A facinating place to visit, this historic monument marks a key period in English history having been blown apart in the English Civil War.
